On Fridays, over the past 14 weeks, Catherine McGlinchey from Music Generation has been sharing her fantastic musical talents with the children in Mrs Meeneghan’s First and Second Class and Mr Brennan’s Fifth and Sixth Class.
She has sung songs with our classes such as Beat It, Jingle Bell Rock and Burn. She helped us to prepare for school events such as our School Fundraising Concert and our Christmas Plays.
Every week she brought an interesting instrument for us to try out some of which included: snare drum, bodhrán, guitar, ukulele, violin, flute, trumpet, trombone, French horn, accordion and cello. Check out the video below to hear some of them in action.
The children played games such as Blob Chorus Ear Training and Copy the Rhythm and started their lessons with great warm-ups such as Woodchuck, Up the Ladder and Feet are Firmly Planted. They composed group rhythms and an array of raps on topics ranging from the farm to athletics. A big thank you to Catherine for providing us with many musical feasts since September. Míle Buíochas.
