On Monday 23rd and Tuesday 24th the girls and boys from 4th to 6th class travelled to Owenbeg to take part in a football tournament in memory of the late Kevin Egan aimed to continue the spirit of rural Ireland where each child is supported, nurtured and encouraged.
The children had a great time playing football for sheer fun, enjoyment and good health. The girls and boys played some great football against Dromore West and High Park. The girls after winning both their games secured a birth in the final against Owenbeg. The drama of the final played out as a large crowd of spectators witnessed an exciting, skilful and sporting contest between two great teams. A great start by Kilglass proved decisive and they held onto their lead until the final whistle with the narrowest of margins 7 points to 6. Comhghairdeas Cailíní! Well done to the girls and boys and their mentors Ms Lowther and Mr O’ Connor. Training sessions are in full swing under their stewardship in the run-up to our Cumann na mBunscol games.
Míle Buíochas to Paul Bourke and Toymaster for sponsoring the school with a set of jerseys and sets of footballs.
