Seashore Safari

Seashore Safari 2018

Over the last few days the children from Third to Sixth Class have been learning about the plants and animals which inhabit our shoreline.  We uncovered many interesting facts about various types of seaweed and animals such as barnacles, limpets, mussels, periwinkles, sea slugs, jellyfish, starfish, sea anemones, crabs, shrimp and lugworms.  We learned about how to be safe when exploring the rock pools and about the seashore conservation code.  On Monday we had a super day exploring the rock pools in Enniscrone with David from the Marine Institute.  Here is a snapshot of our adventure.  Keep an eye on our class pages for updates on our marine projects!

Seashore Safari 2016

The children from Third to Sixth Class went to Enniscrone Beach last Friday to take part in the Explorers Seashore Safari programme supported by the Marine Institute.  We took part in interactive activities learning about marine habitats, living things and environmental awareness and care on the shore.  Everybody had a great time and we learned lots in the process!
