The children throughout the school look forward with anticipation to Wednesdays.  On Wednesday, Aileen Bourke from Bonniconlon comes to teach all the boys and girls tin whistle.  The children are full of enthusiasm and get great enjoyment from the lessons.  The corridors are filled with music as tunes such as The Britches Full of Stitches, Happy Birthday, the Kerry Cow, Twinkle Twinkle, Mary had a Little Lamb, Ireland’s Call, the Dawning of the Day and more are to be heard. Thank you to Aileen for all her great work as the children are making fantastic progress and are enjoying it tremendously.

Mark McGovern from Music Generation is teaching the boys and girls in Fifth Class the Ukulele.  Mark who plays with Sligo band Rockhouse Pilfer and Staring Down Comets is a big hit as he introduces the children to new chords on the ukulele and works on their rhythm to accompany lovely songs.  We were lucky to have Roisin Kilgannon from Music Generation who worked with the First and Second Class before Christmas.  It is great to be able to provide such rich musical opportunities for the children in Kilglass National School
