Congratulations to our Green Schools Committee on achieving their eight Green Flag “Global Citizenship and Travel”. Three members of the committee travelled to the awards ceremony to represent the school and to collect our latest flag. Congratulations to all the members of the committee and to all the children in the school on their hard work.
Green Schools are on the hunt for a new motto and the committee recently held a competition in school. We had lots of entries and it was very hard to choose one winner. It was actually impossible to choose only one, so congratulations to our three winners and we hope you create many more masterpieces with your prizes and congratulations to everyone who took part!
Our winning mottos:
Ciaran from Green Schools came out recently to complete a speed survey in Kilglass National School. All our committee enjoyed using the speed gun to track and record drivers who pass by school. While most drivers followed the speed limit we did measure one car going over 80km/h. Following this we were delighted to see new road markings going down, reminding drivers that a school is nearby and we are sure all drivers will slow down and drive safely.
