Another first for Kilglass NS and another first for the West Sligo Creative Cluster. We have an art exhibit in our school for our school community to enjoy!
Ms. Brogan, as the West Sligo Creative Cluster Co-Ordinator has secured an art loan from the Art Library based in the Glucksman Gallery in UCC for all four schools in the Cluster. Kilglass NS, Killeenduff NS, Rathlee NS and Stokane NS have all taken delivery of individual artworks from the Viewpoints Collection, which will be on display in the schools until mid-June of this year.
The Viewpoints Collection is a touring exhibition with learning resources for all ages and abilities. The Glucksman commissioned seven Irish picture book authors to respond to different themes within the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child. Artists Kathi Burke, Peter Donnelly, Chris Judge, Roisin Hahessy, Chris Haughton, Mary Murphy and Niamh Sharkey created new illustrations which were originally installed in the gallery spaces as large-scale mural paintings and now make up the Viewpoints Collection.
Cluster Co-Ordinator Ms. Brogan who successfully applied for the Art Library loan on behalf of the four schools in the Cluster, co-ordinated their arrival and delivery last week. The Art Library is an innovative approach to sharing art and knowledge driven by the principles of creativity, inclusion and participation
This is the first time that the Glucksman Gallery has loaned artworks this far west and Kilglass NS with the West Sligo Cluster schools are thrilled to house and exhibit these pieces from the Viewpoints Collection for the next few weeks until their return to Cork.
