There has been a flurry of activity on the football front over the last few weeks.

Congratulations to the Girls Football Team under the stewardship of Mrs Lynott who were in action on Tuesday.  They played a semi-final in tremendous heat against St. Brendan’s of Sligo emerging victorious with a great spread of scores.  Following their semi-final win, they next faced Ardkeeran N.S. from Riverstown in the Shield Final.  Having started brighly in the first half the girls built up an early lead which Ardkeeran clawed back in the second half.  Congratulations to Ardkeeran N.S. who won by a point on the day.  It was great to see the girls leave with medals on the day with the girls having a great season overall.

On Monday, we welcomed Ethan Carden and past pupil Brian Duffy who visited all the children in the school with the Connacht U20s JJ Fahy Cup. It was great to hear their words of advice and encouragement to the children.  We are grateful to our local heroes for visiting; it brought great joy to all the children in the school and we look forward to seeing them back in action next year.

On Saturday the Boys Football team played a humdinger against Moylough N.S. in the Cumann na mBunscol finals in Markievicz.  With nothing between the sides at full time, we are back in Markievicz again on Thursday at 4.00p.m.  Best of luck to all the boys, Mrs Lynott and Alan Duffy in their replay.

In May, Saoirse and Muireann Moyles brought in silverware from the TG4 Connacht Senior Final following Mayo’s win against Galway.  A big thank you to Michael Moyles manager of Mayo Ladies Football Team for the visit.
