Concern Primary Debates

Well done to Saoirse, Tara and Aaron who performed superbly for Kilglass National School last Monday in the second of our Concern Debates against Scoil Mhuire gan Smál, Ballymote.  We were opposing the motion “Primary School students should be banned from owning a mobile phone”.  After lots of great effort in preparation and delivery of their speeches and refutes on the day Saoirse, Tara and Aaron emerged as victors on the day.  Thank you to Scoil Mhuire gan Smál for a great debate.  Eoin, Caitlín and Niall our currently working hard preparing the way for our next debate against Ardkeeran where they are proposing the motion “World hunger will be eliminated by 2030”.  We wish them all the best.

Well done to Eimear, Shane and Katie who represented Kilglass National School last Thursday in the first of our Concern Primary Debates against Sooey National School.  We were proposing the motion that “Homework is a waste of time for Primary School Students”.  All the children in Fifth and Sixth Class were busy researching, constructing arguments and honing their debating skills in preparation for the debate in Sligo Education Centre.  After a Herculean effort, Eimear, Shane and Katie emerged with a precious point for a well fought draw.  Thank you to Sooey N.S. and Sligo Education Centre for providing an enriching learning experience for all.
